Staffordshire Moorlands District Council

The return of the hugely popular Tamworth Summer Festival

Tamworth Borough Council in Partnership with Tamworth Lions brings you the annual flagship event Tamworth’s Summer Festival. The festival has been part of the outdoor events programme for years and is recognised as the day families in Tamworth get together to have fun. This year is no exception with a new look on the days festivities.

Taking on the traditional aspects, the festival will work with local group the Tamworth Lions to provide the people of Tamworth and beyond with lots of things to do. This year the event will be split up into zones; these zones will have something for all members of the public.

The festival will also incorporate celebrations for the Olympic handover that will take place in Beijing. To mark the transfer of the Olympic Games from Beijing to London a competition of games will take place within the Sports Development Zone and ending in a final in the Arena, and winners will be crowned. Come along and take part.

The event will be on August 24th, the Saturday of the bank holiday weekend and coincides with the Bank Holiday event taking place at Tamworth Castle. There will be 5 hours of fun filled packed activities in the castle grounds.  The event will run 12-5pm in Tamworth Castle Pleasure Grounds.

The zones for the event are:-

Community Zone

This area will offer the community information about issues from a range of local organisations on subjects affecting residents in Tamworth. This will include Tamworth Borough Council, Fire, Police, Education Providers and others.

Food and Drink

Visitors will be able to sample the best food Tamworth has to offer, showcasing local produce and restaurants across the town.

Show arena

Every hour there will be a different display to entertain including gymnastics, equestrian and dance.

Heritage Zone

Tamworth’s rich heritage is on display with a Medieval re-enactment taking centre stage, this section is supported by a host of other interesting local heritage organisations.
