Oarsmen from Burton row at Henley |
Oarsmen from Derby and Burton have qualified to race at this week’s Henley Royal Regatta.
Sam Cook (age 18) of Woodlands School and Billy Fields (18) of Bilborough College who both row for Derby Rowing Club have formed a composite crew with Burton Leander RC’s Alex Ganley (17) and Michael Jones (17) both of Abbot Beyne School, Burton upon Trent.
The quad went through from the qualifying races on Friday [26 June] to gain an entry to the Fawley Challenge Cup for under-18 quadruple sculls, beating off the competition from 21 others to gain one of the remaining 9 places to go into the draw, joining the 15 seeded crews having an automatic entry.
