South Staffordshire pupils hit the heights in trampoline competition |
Local school pupils demonstrated their gymnastic skills recently when taking part in the South Staffordshire School Sport Partnership inaugural trampolining competition held at Edgecliff High School.
75 pupils ranging from years 7 to 11 who attend Wolgarston, Ounsdale, Codsall, Cheslyn Hay and Edgecliff High Schools performed in a team and individual event. Each school had to provide a team of 15 trampolinists to perform in 3 graded routines. The competition was for beginners, intermediate, advanced.
Each school had the opportunity to practise during lunchtimes with teachers prior to the event.
Additional coaching prior to the competition was funded from the Get Set Scheme and linked to clubs in the partnership and many teachers provided Out of School Hours Learning opportunities for their young people to practise.
The event was overseen by 3 judges:
The funding for the trophies came from England Gymnastics.
The team competition was won by Edgecliff High School with individual winners from 4 different High Schools.
Edgecliff High School provided all equipment and the leaders were excellent in the way they helped organise with the smooth running of the event.
“This successful event came from the requests of several School Sport Coordinators in the Partnership and from that we have developed a new competition which will spread across the County in coming years” said Nick Richards Competition Manager, South Staffordshire/Stafford and Stone.
Many thanks to all staff who were involved with the development and running of this competition.
