Stafford and Stone young people perform inCheerleading and GymFest 2010Two hundred and thirty pupils from reception to Yr
Twelve schools across the Partnership had the opportunity to develop their own cheerleading and gym routines and performed to music chosen by pupils.
A range of different abilities from reception to Y12, with some pupils performing for the first time and pupils who have competed at a national level.
A lot of hard work at school during lunchtimes and at home to fine tune all routines paid off with excellent routines. Some of the costumes were made by the pupils who took part in the festival.
Two Partnership coaches, Lyndsey Meek and Jessica Perry have developed several cheerleading clubs at St John’s C of E, Walton High, Blessed William Howard, Christchurch Middle, Sir Graham Balfour and Stafford Sports College, these being part of the School Sport coaching plan for the Stafford and Stone Partnership.
“This festival combined participation and fun with hard work and was celebrated with pupils performing for the first time in front of an audience” commented Nick Richards, Competition Manager.

Tri and Xtreme Golf comes toSouth Staffordshire
A host of schools will take part in several golf competitions and festivals across the South Staffordshire Partnership during June and July.
South Staffordshire School Sport Partnership have introduced Tri and Xtreme Golf to first, primary, middle and high schools.
The Partnership festival competitions are organised by the competition manager and delivered by middle and high school sports leaders from years 8-10. The leaders assist with setting up equipment, scoring and supporting pupils with the game.
Already one hundred and eighteen young people from six schools have taken part, with a further three hundred from schools across the South Staffordshire Partnership.
Tri and Xtreme golf coaching has been delivered in schools by Maurice Robinson as part of the coaching plan and has gone very well within schools taking up the offer.
Local golf professionals have also attended the festivals giving young people tips on chipping and putting essential shots for developing the game.
Perton, Ledene and Three Hammers golf clubs have provided exit routes for pupils to access golf after the competitions.
“Golf will be a priority competition for Yr 5 and 6 next academic year and this will give teachers and pupils the opportunity to take part in a new Olympic sport “commented Nick Richards, Competition Manager.
