Chance to Shine Bringing Cricket To State Schools |
In conjunction with the East Staffs School Sport Partnership and Barton Cricket Club, the programme aims to develop the opportunity for young people to increase their skill level and knowledge of the game and also develop opportunities for staff through INSET training, all delivered by ECB qualified coaches.
Chance to Shine is a cricket programme that is being organised by Barton Cricket Club. It is being delivered in nine partner primary schools and one secondary school. The schools are receiving a total of 300 hours coaching over a period of 12 weeks of the summer term. Along side this there are 5 match days that the primary schools will take part in to introduce them to the concept of kwick cricket. The coaching and matches is aimed at the yr 3 & 4 however other year groups will also benefit. As well as the Chance to Shine program is also giving girls the opportunity to take part in cricket as there is an OSHL session being run by Barton Cricket Club at the secondary school with a view to getting more girls involved in cricket. To secure the school club link further the chances to shine programme is also putting on two taster sessions at Barton cricket club for all those not involved in club cricket who have been involved in the chance to shines program.
