First Golf Club In Staffordshire Achieves GolfMark
The Craythorne Golf Club & South Staffordshire Golf Club are the first clubs in Staffordshire to achieve the new GolfMark accreditation which was re-launched last year.
GolfMark is a national scheme that identifies and reconises junior and beginner friendly golf clubs. The newly updated accreditation launched last February now also incorporates Sports England ClubMark which is a cross sport accreditation for sports clubs with junior sections, recognises a quality club.
Melanie Flude, Regional Development Officer for the English Golf Union & English Ladies Golf Association say’s “ Clubs have to meet minimum criteria in 3 key area’s; Coaching & Playing, Club Environment & Child Protection. Both clubs have worked extremely hard to gain this recently re-launched prestigious accreditation as there’s a lot of hard work required to produce the evidence and to ensure that the right support for
the players is in place to develop juniors into good golfers” For clubs that work towards Golf Mark there’s a good support structure in place from Melanie to ensure that they have the right procedures and policies are in place and that they club have a strong infrastructure for player development. The benefits for the clubs is without a doubt, promotion of them being awarded not only on the EGU & ELGA web sites but also Sport England.
For parents, is the knowledge that their child is in safe hands.
