South Staffordshire Get Set for rewards card scheme
In their on going commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, South Staffordshire Council Leisure Services have launched the Get Set Points Card, an innovative project aimed at increasing sport and physical activity participation amongst children aged between 5 and 13 years old.
It is completely free of charge for a child to become a Get Set Points Card member. The card will work on a similar basis as a loyalty scheme. Children receive a set number of points every time they participate in sport and physical activity through an approved provider or a South Staffordshire Council Get Set activity, including the new Get Walking project. Upon reaching specified point targets, the child can then redeem their points and be rewarded with special
discounts at a local sports club or with coaching at their school.
There will also be special prizes available soon to those who collect the most points in a stated month. These prizes include free tickets to Telford Ice Rink, Dudley Zoo and Birmingham Science Museum amongst others!
Upon applying, children receive their card amongst other goodies through the post in a welcome pack. The card is simple to use, it just has to be swiped at reception when visiting a Leisure Centre operated by South Staffordshire Council Leisure Services and the points are automatically added on!
It is anticipated the card will result in increased opportunities for children to participate in sport and physical activity both during school and out of school. Data collection of participation trends will also assist Leisure Services in future planning of children’s activities.
The card has initially been launched over a small number of schools, with the project set to grow over the coming months across the whole of the district.
