ACCESS across Staffordshire fund success for Triathlon
After receiving £500 from the ACCESS across Staffordshire fund, there is now a fully established Triathlon club in Burton.
Following various studies conducted by British Triathlon, it was apparent that there was a huge lack of athletes involved in triathlon from BME backgrounds.
As a result, the West Midlands was established as a priority area to develop this minority participation group. Through accessing a range of funding streams, one of which being the ACCESS across Staffordshire fund, a new club has been developed – Burton Caribbean Association Triathlon club (BCAT).
The club has 2 newly qualified Triathlon UKCC level 1 coaches and 10 registered volunteers. The club has exceeded the target number of events, and has organised 3 taster events to encourage new people into the club.
The club has also been able to access funding through the “Great Giveaway” fund which has enabled them to buy top quality Triathlon equipment (including; bikes, turbo-trainers, circuit training kit etc).
The club is open to all members of the community aged between 8 – 18yrs. Anyone wishing to join the club should contact Kay Clarke -kay@kayclarke.fsnet.co.uk
