Cannock and Rugeley Netball Competition

Year 5 & 6 pupils got the chance to take part in the first Partnership High Five competition as part of the Cannock and Rugeley School Sport Partnership competition calendar. Over 80 young pupils from 10 primary schools, and 15 students from the Leadership Academy took part in a 2 ½ competition at Rugeley Leisure Centre.

Each school battled through 4 league games until a nail biting final crowning St Marys of Cannock the winners and St Luke’s the runners up. Not even poor weather conditions could hold back the event with a last minute decision to move indoors and with some creative use of courts that enabled the competition to go ahead.

Lucy Stevenson PDM said “The tournament was a great success with all teams getting into the spirit of competition, supporting other schools and enjoying themselves.   The Young Leaders have been fantastic and the event couldn’t have run without them. This is a great event that we are planning to hold annually”.

The winners represented the Cannock and Rugeley School Sport Partnership at the Staffordshire High Five Netball Final on the 16th March at Fenton Manor.

The High Five Netball competition was run in conjunction with Lucy Stevenson PDM, Nigel Camacho Competition Manager and Emma Warren Netball Development Officer.
