Netball High Five goes from strength to strength in Tamworth

After all primary schools in Tamworth had only recently agreed to play Netball High Five, the turn out of 14 schools to the High Five primary netball competition was impressive.  The event took place at Rawlett Sports College on 4th March and attracted primary schools from across the borough, with some participating in the event for the first time....

The High Five Netball competition was a close affair throughout the group stages and continued to be extremely close into the semi-finals and finals.  The evidence of the evenly matched teams was shown in the semi-finals; Dosthill Primary verses Wilnecote Primary and Thomas Barnes Primary verses Lakeside Primary, with both games going to extra time.  The Dosthill, Wilnecote semi-final had to go to further extra time and the teams could only be separated in a nail biting shoot off.  Dosthill held their nerve to progress through to the final.  Both Dosthill and Thomas Barnes had already secured a place in the County Finals but it didn’t distract them and both teams produced free flowing netball. The winners of the Primary High Five Netball Tournament in Tamworth were Thomas Barnes.

Dave Rudman, Competition Manager for Tamworth said: 'It was fantastic to see so many young people taking part and gaining such an incredible experience of netball.  It was good to see the professionalism of the young leaders of Rawlett High School who helped officiate and score the games.  I hope this event continues to grow as it is a good advocacy for the hard work of the School Sport Partnership and the School Sport Coordinators.'
