Staffordshire Moorlands District Council

NHS North Staffordshire Sports Club Capacity funding

Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (SASSOT) recognise that sports clubs are at the heart of the future development of sport in the country; we therefore dedicate a lot of time and effort into the development and support of our sports clubs.

Clubs play a vital role and provide a supportive environment for young players to develop. SASSOT help assist National Governing Bodies of Sport in the development of active, accessible and accredited clubs through national and sub-regional programmes.

The Sports Club Capacity Funding Project has been designed to meet the main objectives of SASSOT’s Club Support Plan. It has been established to develop the sports club infrastructure and increase the number of Clubmark / NGB accredited sports clubs within Newcastle-under-Lyme and Staffordshire Moorlands. The aim being to contribute to increasing levels of participation by 1% + year on year in club and community sport.

SASSOT, NHS North Staffordshire, Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Community Sports and Physical Activity Network and Staffordshire Moorland’s Community Activity Network want to ensure there is an extensive network of community sports clubs offering high quality sporting opportunities for young people.

The Sports Club Capacity funding is open to all sports clubs, which lie within the boundaries of either Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough or Staffordshire Mooreland’s District.

The funding is available to sports clubs who require financial assistance to support or develop a new project, which fits into one of the following categories:

  • Clubmark / NGB Accreditation or Re-accreditation

Assistance and support for sports clubs to achieve accreditation or for re-accreditation

  • Widening Access / Increasing Opportunities

Projects, which will increase the capacity of sports clubs to attract more children and young people in regular participation

Please find attached below the project's Guidance Notes and Application Form. Project applications are currently being sought from National Governing Bodies of Sport and sports club so please forward and disseminate the attached Guidance Notes and Application form to sports clubs and contacts.
