North Stoke Partnership Primary High 5 Netball Tournament

On Thursday 29th January 2009 the North Stoke Partnership Primary High 5 Netball Tournament took place at Fenton Manor Sports Complex. Twelve teams competed after qualifying by finishing in the top 3 at their cluster competitions.

The top 6 from the North Stoke Competition then qualified for the Stoke City High 5 Netball Tournament. They were: Carmountside 1st, Hanley St Luke’s 2nd, Packmoor 3rd, Hillside 4th, St and Mary’s RC and Sneyd Green joint 5th place.

The tournament supplied many exciting matches with a number of very close results. Play-offs for the last six places saw Sneyd Green and St Mary’s RC drawing 3 all in a nail biting play-off for 5th and 6th place, Packmoor beat Hillside 5-1 for 3rd place and the final between Carmountside and Hanley St Luke’s saw Carmountside winning 2-0. A huge congratulations to all six teams. Well done also to Hillside and Etruscan primary schools who qualified for the first time for the competition.

In October, 56 leaders from North Stoke gained their Young Netball Organisers Award. Without the hard work and commitment of the Young Netball Leaders from each of the secondary schools, the competition would not have taken place. They did an excellent job umpiring the whole tournament, as well as assisting players to complete their officiating roles as scorers and centre pass markers.

Thank you to all the teachers and parents who supported the event and a personal thank you to Emma Warren the Netball Development Officer, Richard Adams the North Stoke Competition Manager and Dave Gould North Stoke SSCo for their support and help in running the event.

Stoke City Partnerships' High 5 Netball

The next round of the Stoke City Partnerships' High 5 Netball took place on Monday 9th February 2009. The 11 qualifiers from North and South Stoke met at Fenton Manor to decide who would qualify for a place in the Staffordshire County High 5 Tournament in March.

The final four placements went to Sutherland, Carmountside, St Thomas Aquinas and Packmoor. A huge congratulations to all four teams who then went on to compete in the Staffordshire County Tournament on Monday 16th March 2009.

As with the previous round, spectators were able to enjoy some first class High 5 netball skills. Many exciting matches were played, with some very close results. This year four qualifying places for the Staffordshire County tournament were available for teams to fight for.
