Annual Community Recreation Service Indoor Bowls Tournament

The Newcastle-under-Lyme Community Recreation Service Indoor Bowls Tournament is an annual event, which has been delivered since 1991.

This year's event was held from 23^rd -25^th February 2010, and 16 teams were entered from the local bowling clubs within the Borough.

This year's event had 128 participants and was held at Chesterton Community Centre. Each team had 8 players and the tournament was held in a league format.

The following bowling clubs entered the tournament:-

• Bradwell
• Kidsgrove
• Betley
• Newcastle Community School
• Madeley
• Silverdale
• Chesterton
• London Road
• Seabridge
• Clayton

The event was organised by the Community Recreation Service (CRS) and Doug Smith MBE, with two apprentices from CRS who are on placement within the department.

The winning club was Newcastle Community School, and the runners up were Chesterton. There was a good atmosphere at the event and all who participated demonstrated a high level of fair play.
