Danielle Wyatt plays in all three T20 games after England debut in Mumbai
Staffordshire all-rounder Danielle Wyatt (pictured below left) has taken significant steps on her way to a great cricket future by representing England in all three T20 internationals against India in Mumbai.
Wyatt who secured victory for England in the final one-day international last week with 28 not out, managed a starting place in all three games played in the shorter format.
England won the nail-biting series 2-1 with a victory achieved by 5 wickets with Laura Marsh seeing the side home with 47 not out.
Danielle after some fine fielding displays, is now back in England. Following on for the 18 year old from Newcastle, will be an MCC Young Cricketers' contract starting in late March and hopefully selection for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies during April.
The T20 games came a few days after Danielle made her full debut for England Women and hit the winning runs in a thrilling 2 wicket win.
The one-day international in Mumbai was the last game in the five match series with England ending up losers 3-2 in the series.
Danielle after 12th man duties in the first four games, finally took the proud step as England gave debuts to her and Heather Knight with captain Charlotte Edwards resting ahead of the three T20 games.
India reached 206 off their 50 overs with Danielle bowling 4 overs taking 0-24 late in the innings.
Danielle came in at number 7 in the reply and held her nerve scoring 28 not out off only 26 balls to give England victory off the penultimate ball. Old Wulfrunians Tettenhall Showcase
NatWest CricketForce started in style with Old Wulfrunians Tettenhall Cricket Club enjoying a weekend of hard work and fun. The Old Wulfs project was centred on their third team ground at Danescourt Road with the club renovating a virtually disused and vandalised changing area into brand new changing rooms and tea area.
Former England Women's captain Rachael Heyhoe Flint, the first lady to captain England at Lords was amongst the guests who turned up to the event, and was joined by the newest debutant in the England team Danielle Wyatt (pictured above left with Staffordshire Women player Laura Malkin). Danielle was at the ground on Saturday to help along the work parties.
The visitors saw a superb project taking place with a clearing of the areas having been done in the previous weeks by the work parties led by Dave Unitt. The new car park was in place by Saturday saving all cars having to drive onto the ground.
The new kitchen kindly donated free by a local supplier was fitted on Sunday. The painting including all the outside of the pavillion, fitting of toilets and showers, new flooring, paving of the area outside, new fencing donated by a school placed around the pavillion. There was a plentiful supply of hot food on both days and even with a partial monsoon on Saturday afternoon the volunteers enthusiasm didn't wane.
Gerald Williams, chairman of Staffordshire Cricket visited and said "NatWest CricketForce is a brilliant thing for cricket clubs, not only in Staffordshire where we have over 70 clubs registered but nationally where there is over 1600 clubs registered". Cricket development manager Jason Britton and development team members Bob Askey, Alison Grimley and Andy Grice also spent time during the weekend working alongside the club. Britton said "This is a great project that has real meaning in the development of cricket in this club with the users of this ground being juniors, third and fourth team cricketers."
Joe Bennett of Staffordshire University spent the weekend with the club and will be producing a 3 minute video of the weekend's activities.
