Newly Established 'Chase District Netball Club' Achieves League Success
What a first season its been for the players and coaching staff of the Chase District Netball Club. Formed in September 2006, with the help of Awards for All funding secured through the Chase Sports Council, they have just secured the league title in their respective division of the Staffordshire Netball League.
The teams, Cannock 1 and Cannock 2 came up against strong opposition, but the teams grew in strength with Cannock 1 not losing a single game. All these girls came together from different high schools from throughout the Cannock Chase District. They have shown great character in being able to bond and succeed together in netball.
Carol Lewis (Head Coach) said – “I can only say a big thank you for all the support from Lorraine (Umpire), Sophie (Coach), all the parents, but most of all the girls themselves. I am extremely proud of our achievements and hope that next season is just as successful.”
The Chase Sports Council identified a lack of provision for Netball in the area and subsequently applied for Awards for All Funding to support the development of a Netball Club for girls and women who live in the Cannock Chase District.
The Club currently train every Thursday at the Chase Leisure Centre (5.00 – 6.00). They run two under 14’s teams and are looking to set up an under 16’s team for the start of the new season.
