County Sports Partnership Update

 

Workforce Development CIF bid awarded

 

SASSOT has been awarded a �143,000 Community Investment Fund (CIF) grant to implement the Partnership's Workforce Plan. Following the development of the Workforce Plan last year, SASSOT has been working closely with a range of partners to secure the support and match funding to deliver a range of projects aimed at building the capacity and skills of the sub regional sports workforce. 

 

The CIF funding will be used to deliver an enhanced countywide education and training programme, providing high quality training opportunities for coaches, volunteers and sports professionals. Funding will be used to qualify more coaches at levels 1, 2 and 3, deliver the sub regional coaches conference and support the implementation of the SASSOT coach database.

 

A significant aspect of this funding award will be the delivery of an innovative apprenticeship programme in the North Staffordshire area lead by Stoke-on-Trent City Council. This project will seek to build capacity across a range of sports organisations through the training and deployment of apprentices.

SASSOT leads the way with Middle Management Training

 

Following an application to the Community Investment Fund on behalf of the whole West Midlands CSP network, SASSOT has been awarded �66,000 to support the delivery of a regional middle management training programme. This investment is focused on developing the skills and expertise of middle managers working as part of CSP core teams and wider partnership teams including NGBs, School Sports Partnerships and Local Authorities.

 

The programme will incorporate the delivery of the Institute of Leadership Management Level 5 Award at Stafford College and a regional induction event that will involve 360 Appraisals and Facet 5 personality profiling.

Partner Satisfaction Survey Results

 

In January 2008 the County Sports Partnership conducted a partner satisfaction survey.  This online survey was completed by 41 respondents with 47% of surveys completed by local authority partners and 25% from NGBs.

 

Some of the key findings are listed below:

 

• Over 56% rated our contribution to partnership working as 'Excellent'
• Over 56% rated the service they received from us as 'Excellent'
• Generally partners thought that their understanding of our roles and work areas was 'Good'
• The most popular response to how relevant our work areas are in relation to the objectives of partners was ' Very Relevant' the next most popular being 'Relevant'
• Over 84% of partners were aware of our Business Plan; over 70% thought it was at least relevant their work areas; and 71% said they had the opportunity to input into the plan
• Almost 94% of partners were aware of the delivery plan; 70% agreed that it 'Mostly' supported their work areas; over 78% said they had the opportunity to input into the plan - the balance 'Didn't Know'
• The most popular response to all questions regarding our staff (availability, knowledge, helpfulness, decision-making, delivery against promises) was 'Excellent'
• We received one 'Poor' rating in the whole survey - regarding the knowledge of our staff
• 50% though our general communication was 'Good' - a further 37% though it was 'Excellent' - with 'Good' being the most popular description of our methods of communication

It is planned that a repeat of this survey will take place in January 2009.
