North Staffordshire Special Schools Sport Association Mini Euro 2008 Tournament
Five special schools from the Sport Association took part in the Mini Euro 2008 football tournament on May 21st 2008 which was organised by Newcastle under Lyme Sports Development at Knutton Recreation Centre.
The tournament was held in order for the young people from Key Stages 2 and 3 to test their football skills and abilities. In total 77 young people took part in the event that was organised by Nicky Robinson, Community Recreation Leader from Newcastle Sports Development Team.
Each school team competed against each other and ensured fair play was maintained throughout the tournament. For a lot of the participants, this was the first time they have taken part in a sporting event on behalf of their school.
The winners of the tournament for Key Stage 2 were Blackfriars School and Key Stage 3 winners were Middlehurst School. The Mayor of Newcastle under Lyme attended the event to award the winners with their medals and certificates.
