Able Too Games 2009

The Able Too Games are organised by the Able Too Forum to provide opportunities for people with disabilities to take part in and enjoy a range of sports. The aim of the day is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for people with a disability to engage in sport and to promote long-term involvement in a range of activities.

The Able Too Forum is an independent, constituted body established to “increase opportunities for people with a disability to take part in and reach their full potential in a range of sports and activities.

Able To Games 2009

The majority of people taking part in the Able Too Games are aged between 6 and 19 years from a wide range of backgrounds and with a range of disabilities. The intended outcomes for these people are as follows:

  • Increase the levels of participation in sport and physical activity amongst young people with a disability
  • Provide sustainable pathways between the Able Too Games and local sporting clubs to ensure long lasting participation
  • Increase the awareness of opportunities for young people with disabilities within and beyond sport
  • Develop and increase provision of future opportunities
  • Promote and develop teamwork between young people with disabilities from all backgrounds and across the spectrum of disabilities
  • Increase self-confidence of young people with disabilities
  • Promote a sense of achievement amongst young people with disabilities
  • Increase and improve the fitness levels of young people with disabilities

Volunteers from local disability gateway clubs and Fountain Special School will also be supervising during the day.
