Burntwood and Lichfield partnership girls' football competition haled a great success |
Schools from the Burntwood and Lichfield School Sport Partnership took part in the annual girls' football competition. Over 20 schools took part in the two competitions to see who would be crowned 2009 winners.
All the teams battled hard on the day with a nail biting year 5/6 semi final between Greysbrooke and Whittington resulting in a penalty shootout and seeing Greysbrooke go through to the final. However St Michael's primary school held their nerve to be crowned winners of both the year 3/4 and 5/6 age groups. Bad weather forced the secondary schools competition to be abandoned halfway through. On points Friary Specialist Art and Sports College were announced the winners in the year 7/8 and 9/10 age groups.

Mic Sharrod from Lichfield Diamonds Ladies Football Club said: “In the ten years that the club has been supporting the event I have never seen such a well represented and high standard of football in a schools competition.”
All winning teams will go on to represent the Partnership at the county final on Saturday 6th June at Burton-upon-Trent.
The girls' football competition has been run for over ten years and is run in conjunction with Lichfield Diamonds Ladies Football Club and the Burntwood and Lichfield School Sport Partnership.
