Staffordshire Moorlands District Council

Cash boost for Cannock Chase Netball Club

More youngsters than ever will be playing for the Chase District Netball Club after Cannock Chase Council’s Sports Development Team helped the club to successfully bid for Lottery cash.

The £8,953 received from the National Lottery’s Awards for All Scheme will be used to set up new under 12s and under 14s teams and will provide additional training time, coaching opportunities, equipment and kit.

The Lottery cash is the second piece of good news for Chase District Netball Club – their under 16s team, The Comets, recently won the Staffordshire Junior Atkinson League.

Chase District Netball Club Head Coach Carol Lewis said:

“The girls played brilliantly throughout the season and thoroughly deserved to win the league.  We can hopefully expect many more successes over the next few years thanks to the National Lottery money”.

Councillor Neil Stanley, Cannock Chase Council Leader and Children and Young People Portfolio Holder, said:

“Cannock Chase Council is committed to increasing opportunities for youngsters to take part in sport.  The Council’s Sports Development Team works to achieve this with clubs across the District and I am delighted that the Chase District Netball Club has been successful in their bid for Lottery funding.

The club currently trains twice a week at Chase Leisure Centre in Cannock, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5pm to 6pm.  Anyone interested in joining the club should call Carol Lewis on 01543 450281 after 6.30pm.
