Swim Club youngsters swim the Channel for Spinal Injury Charity !
Children and Teachers from Fenton Manor Sports Complex took to the pool in October to help raise money for the Aspire Spinal Injury Charity. The team, from Stoke-on-Trent, consisted of four teachers and 18 youngsters, who collected sponsorship amounting to more than £600 in total, then swam a combined distance of 22 miles.
Aspire is a national charity that works with 40,000 people in the UK that have a spinal cord injury, helping them overcome their trauma and lead a different, but fulfilling and independent life.
Swimming Teacher Chris Austin, who swam in the event said, “It’s been great seeing the youngsters working together both collecting sponsors and in the water doing the distance swim, especially as its for such a good cause which can affect any one of us”.
