Funding Announcement: £350,000 Now Available For Staffordshire Clubs and Community Groups 

If you run a club or community group in Staffordshire, then you may be eligible to receive help from The Staffordshire Community Foundation, which has over £350,000 to give away before the end of March 2009.

The money is part of a three year long £130 million nationwide drive by the Government, to support thousands of groups and projects across the country, working to improve their local communities.

In Staffordshire there’s £1.3 million pounds available for clubs and community groups between now and March 31st 2011.

If your community group is doing valuable work, but you’re finding it hard to raise money for equipment, maintenance, or essentials that would help ensure the group’s long-term existence, then we may be able to help. Grants are available up to a maximum of £5,000.

If you want to maximise the chances of receiving a grant, then they prefer it to be a request that’ll help ensure the long-term sustainability of your organisation.  Whether it is equipment, repairs to your club headquarters, rent, insurance, training courses for volunteers, or funding for a special project, let us know.  It’s all about making a difference by helping voluntary groups across Staffordshire.

*Eligible groups must be volunteer led; have a constitution or set of rules; a turnover under £20,000 a year and be based in Staffordshire.  If the £350,000 isn’t spent by the end of next March, it has to be returned to The Treasury.

BUNAC Summer Camp USA

BUNAC is a not-for-profit organisation who place skilled sports enthusiasts from the UK on American camps for 9 weeks during the summer.  Most major sports we play in the UK are in very high demand on American camps and anyone with good experience and/or relevant qualifications can apply.

It’s a great opportunity for young people to step up and get involved with sport in a coaching role. It is a great opportunity for sports enthusiasts to do something they love every day living in another country for the summer months! Summer Camp USA is an opportunity for those who are passionate about sports to spend 9 weeks looking after children and supervising them during activity sessions.  

BUNAC individually places applicants on summer camps according to their preferences, skills and experience.  For the role of an instructor, applicants should be energetic, highly enthusiastic and skilled in the sport with experience of working with children in a leadership position.

The cost of participating on Summer Camp USA in 2008 is £287 which includes full support from BUNAC, a return flight to the USA, comprehensive insurance and free food/accommodation whilst on camp.  A minimum in-hand salary of $985 or $1215 (if over 21) is paid at the end of the summer. Staffordshire Football Association is seeking to recruit a Football Development Officer to implement a strategic development programme within the County.

 

The role encompasses the following areas: 

• Growth and retention – increasing and sustaining player participation
• Raising standards – creating a safe and positive environment
• Better players – developing better players with a focus on 5 -11 age group
• Running the game – leading and governing the game efficiently

To apply you need to be of graduate calibre, have experience in sports development, and an understanding of the FA’s National Game Strategy.   You need to be passionate about and committed to the development of football at a local level.  You must be able to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate both team working and the ability to work unsupervised. Candidates should also have excellent interpersonal / communication / presentation skills.

You also need to have a current driving licence and also be able to work evenings and weekends.
