Free football sessions kick off
Free football for 16+ on a Monday evening at Rugeley Leisure Centre
Cannock Council’s Free Monday evening football sessions have begun again at Rugeley Leisure Centre 6-7pm. The popular drop in and play activity is in its third year and is primarily aimed at the 16+ and coached by Gregg Allsopp, Community Sports Coach, Simon Davies, Sports Development Officer and Kieran Doorbar.
Hednesford C&LP fund Free Football at Heath Hayes Football Club
Cannock Chase Council in partnership with Heath Hayes Football Club recently ran a series of free football coaching sessions during the October half-term.
The sessions were funded by Kingsmead Community and Learning Partnership for young people aged 10-16 years from the Hednesford, Wimblebury, Rawnsley and Heath Hayes area.
The project aimed to encourage a healthy lifestyle and increase participation through extended schools provision; by linking the sessions with Heath Hayes Football Club it is hoped that some of the young people may decide to carry on with the activity therefore, providing an excellent exit route.
Heath Hayes Football Club would welcome any young person that would like to come along and particularly would like to hear from any young disabled members of our community as Gregg Allsopp, Community Sports Coach and Simon Davies Sports Development Officer are putting together a squad to take part in the Staffordshire Ability Counts League.
It is hoped that the project could be repeated during the February half-term and opportunities in other activities may be available.
