Indoor athletics event raises the roof
Burntwood and Lichfield School Sport Partnership organised their first indoor athletics event for Lichfield
Primary Schools on Tuesday 17th November.
The Friary sports hall had its roof raised as over 100 year 5 and 6 students from 7 local primary schools cheered and screamed their classmates on, in this annual competition delivered through the Burntwood and Lichfield School Sports Partnership. Running, jumping and throwing their hearts out gave way to some magnificent performances and nothing but 100% effort from all the competitors.
For the first time the students were able to benefit from using the brand new specialist equipment that had been purchased for the partnership with generous funding from the Burntwood, North Lichfield and King Edwards Community & Learning Partnerships. The equipment certainly added to the spectacle of the event and acted as a great motivator to the children.
However, after almost 3 hours of frantic activity, there could only be one winner and it was St. Michael’s School who lifted the trophy. They will now go on to represent Lichfield in the next level of the competition. Many congratulations to all who took part in a fantastic afternoon and well done to the student leaders from The Friary School, who measured, timed and recorded so efficiently.
