Winter Fun
Trentham’s Aerial Extreme ropes course is encouraging local people out of hibernation to make the most of the outdoors this winter.
Fitness experts predict approximately 30% of us get no exercise during the winter. Site Manager Alex Dick says it is vital everyone keeps up their exercise routine through all four seasons:
“We all find excuses not to ‘work out’ sometimes and the cold winter weather is one I frequently hear around this time of year! However, there really are numerous benefits to working up a sweat during these chillier months.”
Among the perks of exercising is a ‘mood boost’ effect produced by exercise that provides a great solution to beating the winter blues. Furthermore, it’s a great calorie burner. Due to the extra energy our bodies need to maintain a core temperature, we burn significantly more calories in cold weather.
The Aerial Extreme team have calculated that you burn an extra ‘150’ calories in the winter than you do in the summer – losing approximately 350 calories in total.
Aside from making us happier and healthier people, Aerial Extreme provides a fun family day out which can challenge even the bravest adventurer. Wrap up warmly though, wear plenty of layers, and get ready to make the most of the ‘good-old’ British winter.
Aerial Extreme is open every day from 10am. Check out the website for more details, as times will vary in the run up to Christmas - call 0845 652 1736.
