Sport England and Facebook have announced a new partnership that will transform the way sports bodies engage with participants as they deliver a lasting Olympic legacy of one million people playing more sport.
The new partnership, which will help national governing bodies to reach out beyond their traditional club structures, was launched at a mass table tennis event in London, organised through Facebook.
Secretary of State sees Premier League 4 Sport in action
The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport visited a school in a deprived area of Liverpool recently to see how Premier League 4 Sport is using the power and expertise of the Premier League to inspire young people to take up new sports.
New jobs for sport
Funding to create 2,000 new jobs for young people in sport has been announced by the Government as part of its £1 billion Future Jobs Fund. SkillsActive, one of Sport England's national partners, will help to shape the qualifications, training and continuous professional development the young employees need.
Sir Steve Redgrave, one of the greatest ever Olympians, has been appointed as the Government's 2012 Sports Champion. Sir Steve will champion the shared commitment to ensure London 2012 leaves a lasting sporting legacy of a world-leading sport system.
