Staffordshire's newest girls' football league

Staffordshire County Girls League Kicks Off

Saturday 12th September 2009 saw the first games take place of Staffordshire's newest girls' football league, the Staffordshire County Girls' League.

The League, which has been developed in partnership with the North Staffs Girls' League, South Staffordshire Young Women’s League and the Staffordshire FA, has been launched to provide 11v11 football in the County for Under 15 and Under 16 girl’s teams for the 2009/2010 season. The league will provide competitive football for all teams with games being played home and away on a weekly basis.

Teams from all over the County are taking part in the first season of the league with a view to providing a larger league structure for Under 15 and Under 16 teams for seasons to come.

The first games which took place on the first weekend featured Chasetown Ladies v Norton Canes Ladies FC (Pictured) and Stafford Town Girls v Uttoxeter Juniors. 

The league also has another 4 girls teams participating who include Cheadle Town Girls, 5 Towns Girls, Pelsall Saints Ladies and Wyrley Ladies. www.scgl.org If you are interested in joining one of the teams in the league, please feel free to contact the League Secretary or the Staffordshire FA via the contact details below.

Chasetown 

Chasetown Ladies are delighted with their perfect start to the new season in the Staffordshire County Girls League after looking forward to the challenge of the new league, playing opposition not previously encountered.

They are also more than pleased with their new home at Shenstone Pavilion and are proud to be the first ladies football team to play there, with all its facilities it has a welcoming atmosphere for players and supporters alike. Hopefully the girls can continue their impressive form all through the season.
