Active Ageing Event

 

On Friday, 1^st October 2010, Lichfield District Council’s Sports Development Unit hosted a morning of activities at Burntwood Leisure Centre for people of Lichfield District aged 65+. The event was timed to coincide with  the British Heart Foundation’s “Active Ageing” events programme, which supports the Department for Work and Pensions’ “Full of Life” campaign and UK Older People’s Day.

 

The objective of the event was to promote and celebrate Active Ageing. This well attended event provided the opportunity for the over 65’s to take part in organised activities which included:  

• Low impact Aerobics
• Tai Chi
• Swimming
• Racket Sports

Participants were rewarded with a well-deserved light lunch, during which they discussed the events.  Feedback was extremely positive and it is now our intention to make this an annual event.
