Dancing for the Games:
Public Engagement Campaign update

ArtsFest: Last month at ArtsFest, members of the public were invited to take part in Bhangra and Bollywood dance workshops run by internationally renowned South Asian Dance Company, sampad, as well as treated to impromptu dance performances by Hereford-based street dance company, 2facedDance. Part of the beginning of a two year public engagement programme for Dancing for the Games, there was also a dedicated Dancing for the Games information point where members of the public were able to sign up to a mailing list and receive the latest information on classes, competitions and events in their patch. Those people already dancing were also encouraged to get involved by sharing their dance images, videos and blogs at www.DancingfortheGames.co.uk.

Dance Show: As part of this year’s Clothes Show Live at Birmingham NEC, The Dance Show will be a combination of live performance, workshops, retail and information running alongside the Clothes Show for three days between the 3-5 December. As part of our public engagement programme, Dancing for the Games will also have a presence at The Dance Show. As at ArtsFest there will be a number of workshops taking place as well as opportunities for members of the public to find out more information about how to get involved and participate in Dancing for the Games. Further information about what’s on and where will be available in the coming weeks and will be available at www.dancingforthegames.com.

Fourth Round Commissions update

Later on this month we will be announcing the next round of commissions for our Dancing for the Games programme. This will be the fourth round of commissions for the programme, with the final two rounds closing to bids on 4 February and 8 July 2011.
