EHRC in Association with Sporting Equals – In Sport Resources and Training To Increase Awareness and Understanding of Equality and Human Rights in Sport
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) in Association with Sporting Equals along with it’s partners, Age Concern, Women’s Sports and Fitness Foundation, English Federation of Disability Sport and Stonewall are delighted to announce the appointment of Ottaway Strategic Management Limited to lead the development of a series of fact sheets, toolkits and workshops to increase the awareness and understanding of human rights concerns in sport and active recreation, in particular:
The resources are aimed at supporting the equality and diversity work of third, public and private sector organisations across England and will take cognisance of the progress made by many of those organisations working towards achieving the different levels contained within The Equality Standard for Sport.
A series of thematic fact sheets will be available for sports organisations before the end of the year. In addition 6 workshops will take place between October 2008 and January 2009 in each of the following regions, namely North West, London, Midlands, Yorkshire, North East and South West.
Each three-hour workshop will be designed to focus upon the practical acquisition of learning and an application of that learning through action planning. Workshops will be supported by a comprehensive workbook to be used as a personal record of learning and aid memoir for use in the field.
All workshops will be evaluated and the impact of the training received will be assessed for a selection of recipient organisations.
Places for each workshop are limited to 40 people and the Steering Group is keen to ensure that a good cross section of the sports infrastructure in able to take advantage of this opportunity. So watch this space for further detailed information about dates, venues and workshop content.
Requests made by any organisation to host a workshop will be welcomed. Opportunities to ‘Piggy Back’ onto existing events will also be considered.
For further information and discussion about potential events and workshop venues please contact: Brian Pote-Hunt – Director of Ottaway Strategic Management Limited
Shaheen Bi or Nik Trivedi – Sporting Equals Limited
