Come & Try It Events 2008

In the next few months the Potteries Orienteering Club will be holding a series of Come and Try Events at various locations throughout the West Midlands.

 

 

Saturday 20th September
Ladderedge Country Park
OS Map 118. Grid Ref. SJ 972551

Follow A53 from Stoke-on-Trent towards Leek. At bottom of long, steep hill and 1.5 km after village of Longsdon, turn L. into lane immediately before Ladderedge Country Park car park sign. Please park very compactly. For overflow car park, continue along A53 for 300 m & turn R onto Barnfields Industrial Estate.

Saturday 11th October
Downs Banks, Barlaston
OS Map 127. Grid Ref. SJ 900365

Turn left off A34 300 m south of Darlaston roundabout (A34 / A51 junction). Turn right after 500 m, then left over the railway after canal. Follow road for 1 km and turn left into the National Trust car park in Wash Dale Lane, 200 m after the ford.

Saturday 8th November
Stone Common Plot
OS Map 127. Grid Ref. SJ 902347

From A34, take A5027 to Stone & turn left onto one-way system. At War Memorial, go straight ahead on A520 towards Leek. At traffic lights by railway bridge, turn left in front of LANGTREY'S pub. After approx. 350 m, turn right into car park at Christchurch Middle School (Old Road).

Apedale Country Park

Opening of the new Permanent Orienteering Course

At Dimsdale roundabout junction of A34 / B5369, 2.5km north of Newcastle-u-Lyme, turn west along Wolstanton Road following signs for Apedale Country Park. At next roundabout, take 3rd exit into Loomer Road and follow it into the Country Park. Park in the 1st car park on the left just before the Heritage Centre.

 

Registration for each event: 10.00 am to 11.30 am
Cost: Adults £3. Juniors, Students £1.50.
