Funding Opportunity: Aiming High for Disabled Children
Aiming High for Disabled Children and their families is a three year national programme launched by the government earlier this year. The programme is designed to transform services for disabled children and their families.
In Staffordshire the aim is to meet the requirements of the Aiming High Programme and continue to improve the services, which are provide. A multi-agency Staffordshire Aiming High Project Board has been established to take forward work to meet the Full Service Offer and Core Offer (see below) by April 2011. To view the Aiming High Strategy and Action Plan (2009-2011) please click here.
‘Aiming High for Disabled Children in Staffordshire Conference’ took place on Friday 18th September. The conference, delivered by Staffordshire County Council, was primarily aimed at service providers who may be interested in supporting and providing services to deliver the Aiming High Programme in Staffordshire.
Information on the commissioning process (800k) was released providing a great opportunity to increase your sport and leisure provision to young disabled children. The purpose of the funding is to allow extension of existing work rather than supporting existing projects.CSP is really pleased that Tamworth, East Staffs and Cannock as well as Staffordshire FA have come forward to submit applications to this fund to improve
their services. I would therefore like to encourage those of you who have not already looked at the information on the commissioning process to please do so. Click here to view the commissioning presentation.
Key funding areas are:
1)Activities - after school, weekends, school holidays to enable disabled children and their families to have enjoyable experiences
2)Workforce - specific disability training, volunteer training, building confidence
An 'Expression Of Interest' form has to be returned to Staffordshire County Council by 5th October, please click here to download the form.
