Westfield Primary serve an ace in county finals |
Westfield Primary School was crowned Mini Tennis County Champions for Staffordshire in July. The team comprised of 2 boys and 2 girls from Year 3.
Local schoolchildren demonstrated their knowledge and understanding on the tennis courts recently when taking part in a Staffordshire County Final event held at Draycott Leisure Centre.
Seven school teams qualified from their district competitions to take part in several mini games as part of The Lawn Tennis Association's County Plan to develop tennis in schools.
Schools in South Staffordshire were offered coaching prior to the tournament, which was funded by South Staffordshire School Sport Partnership Coaching Plan.
Overall county winners were Westfield Primary School from Wombourne.
“We hope next year to expand on the great success of Westfield Primary and make the event even bigger and better” said Nick Richards, Competition Manager for South Staffordshire School Sport Partnership.
