Free 2012 Games Sports Volunteering workshop
You are invited to an exciting workshop organised in partnership with Volunteering England and YouthNet, which will enable your organisation to use the 2012 Games to create and promote new Games-inspired volunteering opportunities.
The workshop is for volunteer organisations that are looking for new ways to promote volunteering to local people. The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are major events and these workshops are designed to make sure everyone can play a part in the 2012 Games without having to leave their communities.
Why should your organisation come to the workshop?
To increase the number and diversity of volunteers within your organisation – thousands of people have already registered their interest in volunteering at the 2012 Games and many of these people want to volunteer now.
It’s an easy tangible way for your organisation to use the power of the 2012 Games volunteering legacy simply by creating Games inspired opportunities.
It’s not just about sport! The arts and cultural sectors are also highlighted through the Cultural Olympiad and the 2012 Games are aiming to be the first sustainable ‘green’ Games - so there will need to be lots of volunteering opportunities for people who don’t like sport.
It’s completely free of charge thanks to funding from Volunteering England, YouthNet and the Cabinet Office.
The workshop is open to all voluntary and community groups who would like to use the opportunity that the 2012 Olympics provides, to increase the diversity of volunteers involved in their own activities. Led by staff from national governing body, Volunteering England in partnership with YouthNet, it will look at how best to market current volunteering opportunities, how to create new, Olympic inspired opportunities and how to encourage wider participation
from people of all backgrounds.
The workshop will focus on giving you support, advice and inspiration to develop Games inspired opportunities and furthermore tailor the support to your organisation to market your new opportunities on the do-it website. These opportunities will form the backbone of the 25th Hour campaign, which aims to inspire hundreds of thousands of people throughout the country to give time to volunteer before, during and after the Games in their local communities.
The workshop will take place on - Tuesday 12thOctober at The Bridge Centre, Birches Head Road, Stoke on Trent ST2 8DD9.30am - 1pm and will include lunch.
Please complete the workshop booking form and return to North Staffordshire Volunteer Centre to secure your place on the workshop. The workshop is limited in numbers so we would encourage an early response.
