Games Maker applications open for London 2012 Games

 

London 2012 Games Maker applications opened at 8am on 15th September 2010

That’s right, the wait is finally over. At 8am on the 15th September, applications for volunteer roles opened to the general public.

I’ve witnessed first-hand the incredible impact that volunteers have on a Games. They are the face of the Games and without them the Games simply would not happen. That's why we're calling them Games Makers. From stewards to radio operators to athlete escorts, our volunteers will play an integral role in the largest event ever staged in the UK.

If you’ve registered your interest in volunteering – from the 15th September you'll actually be able to apply and start your journey to becoming a Games Maker. (Remember, even if you’re registered, you still have to apply online.)

If you’re still not sure whether volunteering at London 2012 is for you, don’t worry. Applications will be open until midnight on 27 October 2010, so you’ve still got plenty of time to decide. Make sure you find out all there is to know about being a volunteer on the London 2012 website.

Once you’re ready to apply, go to london2012.com/volunteering and click on the ‘Apply’ button. The online application will take around 30 minutes to complete, but you can save at any point in the process and return to it later.

It will be the London 2012 Games Makers who help turn a good Games into a truly great Games. I hope you will be there with us, making this the greatest show on Earth.

Games Makers Posters - find out what's involved 

Further to the launch of the London 2012 Games time Volunteer Programme, I would be delighted if you could help spread the message by printing off the attached posters to put up on your notice board(s) or equivalent.

 

To retain the integrity of the programme and protect the London 2012 brand*, it must however be stressed that the posters must not be edited or altered in any way.  As the sign up period ends on 27 October 2010 the posters should also be taken down and not used after that date.
