Charter Standard Clubs' Coaching Festival
The festival, which was free of charge and organised exclusively for Charter Standard Clubs, was open to children aged 6-11, who were put through their paces throughout the day by a team of FA qualified coaches in preparation for the new season.
In addition to the coaching sessions taking place for the children, managers and coaches who attended the festival also took part in two coaching sessions delivered by FA coach educators, to give them a few new ideas and tips to use in the forthcoming season; the sessions were themed around the two relatively new FA coaching courses – The ‘Age Appropriate Coaching Introductory Module’, and the ‘FA Youth Award’.
Every player who took part in the coaching festival received FA certificates, literature and goodies, and every manager/coach who took part in the coach education sessions, received a free £50 Umbro Voucher to spend on equipment to enhance their club’s coaching programme.
Pictured above is Staffordshire FA Skills Team Leader, and FA Coach Educator, Steve Pritchard, who delivered a session to coaches themed around the new FA Youth Award.
Staffordshire FA Football Development Officer, Gareth Thomas, hailed the day a big success: “We have changed the format of the festival slightly in the last couple of years, with more of a focus on player and coach development rather than the traditional mini-soccer festivals we have organised in previous years”.
He added: “The children spent the day rotating around a variety of different coaching stations, being put through their paces by the Staffordshire FA Skills Team and other FA qualified coaches, learning new skills at each station to take into the new season. In addition to the players picking up a few new skills, the coach education sessions for the managers and coaches who came along will hopefully have given them a few new ideas to take into the new season”.
The free annual festival is just one of an ever-increasing list of benefits for clubs who have achieved FA Charter Standard accreditation.
