The Sports Development Team work hard to ensure that the young people of the Borough have the opportunity to take part in a variety of sports. Whether it’s coaching sessions run by qualified coaches in the community and at schools, organising sports festivals and tournaments or delivering school holiday activities, there’s something for everyone.

Sportivate Skate Project Success
Sportivate is part of ‘Places People Play’, the 2012 mass participation legacy programme which is being delivered by Sport England. This nation wide initiative will target 14-25 year olds who are non or semi sporty and offer them the chance to take part in 6-8 weeks of sporting activity.
The first of the two Sports Development Team’s Stafford Sportivate projects for 2011/12 has been a huge success with over 40 young people accessing the mobile skate park at Rowley Park. The team easily achieved their Sportivate target for 15 young people to attend every one of the four, 2 hour-long sessions on offer.
The second Sportivate Project will start early next year, encouraging non or semi sporty young people to use the gym facilities at Stafford Leisure Centre and Westbridge Park Fitness Centre in Stone (plus the pool at Alleyne’s).
