Competition Managers

The new PE and Sport Strategy for Young People (PESSYP) and the introduction of a national network of competition managers are designed to provide a fully integrated approach to the delivery of inter school competitive sport. Competition Managers will be looking to work with all relevant partners to develop sustainable opportunities that meet the needs of young people and retain their involvement post 16.

Competition Managers are an integral part of the School Sport Partnership network and will take the lead in working towards the government's ambition  of 'creating a world class system for competitive school sport, which will provide opportunities for all young people, contribute  to the 5 hour offer and provide  pathways to support the development of talent'.

In Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent the Competition Manager team will be working towards:

• Increasing the number of 5-16 year olds involved in regular school competition
• Ensuring that Nationally agreed frameworks are appropriately considered at a local level
• Developing a sustainable county competition calendar for school aged young people
• Reducing the barriers, faced by schools and young people, in accessing competitive opportunities.

The calendar (below) provides dates and additional entry details for primary and secondary county competitions.

If you are a National Governing Body, County Schools Association or the organiser of a County wide competition and would like to see your competition included on the calendar, please complete an event form and return it to djr@rawlett.staffs.sch.uk  

Please return your form well  in advance (ideally 2 terms) in order to allow local Sports Associations, School Sports Partnerships and individual schools the opportunity to plan their programmes.
