Workshops and Courses

Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent coordinates a comprehensive programme of sports coach UK, runningsports and First Aid workshops for all clubs, coaches and volunteers to access.  We aim to offer a wide variety of workshops on topics such as child protection, disability, equity, mentoring, communication, funding and fitness.

SASSOT will shortly be sending a Workshop Programme survey for completion by key individuals i.e. National Governing Bodies, Sport Development Officers and Partnership Development Managers.

The aim of this survey is for SASSOT to collate feedback relating to the Workshop Programme and identify which subject areas to include for the 2008 - 2009 Programme.

The feedback and comments from this survey will enable us to identify the key areas of workshops which will help to support and develop Coaches and Volunteers.

Coaches need to keep up to date with the way they coach. We offer all coaches the opportunity to access a whole range of general coaching workshops.  Unless stated otherwise, each workshop is suitable for all sporting activities and the tutor will tailor the course, wherever possible, according to the delegates needs.

For clubs aiming to achieve Clubmark, we would encourage their members to attend the following workshops: Safeguarding and Protecting Children, Equity in Your Coaching, A Club For All and a relevant First Aid qualification.

All workshops are tutored by accredited tutors. All attendees will receive up to date knowledge surrounding the topic area, as well as recieving a handbook, resources and the chance to express any concerns/issues they may have.

Clubmark Clubs - Minimum Operating Standards

All clubs working towards Clubmark accreditation must attend, if they haven't already, the following workshops:

  • Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop (formerly Good Practice and Child Protection)
  • Equity in Your Coaching Workshop
  • A Club For All
  • A First Aid course

The "Equity in Your Coaching" and "A Club for All" workshops have similar content and outcomes but have two different target audiences.  "Equity in Your Coaching" should be attended by the coach, whereas "A Club for All" should be attended by another club member.

The Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop and First Aid qualification need to be renewed every 3 years.  Your NGB may require the A Club For All and Equity in Your Coaching certificates to be renewed every 3 years.

Football coaches & clubs should access their sports own workshops where appropriate eg. child protection and the Charter Standard. All other coaches & clubs will need to access the Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent programme.
