Workshop Programme 2010 

Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (SASSOT) coordinates a comprehensive Workshop Programme using the following providers, sports coach UK, runningsports and Royal Life Saving Society.  The programme is planed across the Staffordshire County for all coaches and volunteers to access.  Using these providers we are able to offer a wide variety of workshops on topics such as child protection, disability, equity, communication, funding and fitness.

We will then call you to take Credit Card payment. Please note that it is ONLY on receipt of your Credit card payment that your place is confirmed in writing or via an e.mail.

By Post - download the form and print off and return by post to the  address below with a cheque (made payable to Stafford Borough Council) to the Education & Training Officer, Sport Across Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford Borough Council, Civic Offices, Riverside, Stafford ST16 3AQ       

 Please note that once payment has been made a written confirmation will be sent to you in the post with receipt and map to the venue if available. 

Cancellations & Transfers Policy (please read prior to booking)

Please note that delegates must give 5 working days notice prior to the workshop in order to receive a refund.  If less notice is given, a refund is not normally granted but an alternative date is offered for the workshop.  Alternatively, delegates may transfer their place to another member as long as SASSOT is contacted on the number above prior to the change.

 

In the event of a Workshop that is cancelled - every effort will be made to ensure you are notified.  You can help by providing a daytime contact number on the SASSOT application form - or over the phone when you book with a SASSOT member of the team.

As with all SASSOT workshops, please check with your National Governing Body to ensure they recognise/accept the award given to you once you have attended one of the above. It is your responsibility to ensure the certificate you receive will be accepted by your NGB).   

 The Coaching Disabled Performers workshop is a requirement for clubs working towards Swim 21 Accreditation - please check with your NGB.

Protect yourself, the young people you are coaching and your employer by understanding and following good coaching practice.  Learn about child abuse and how to handle situations if you have concerns.  

 

Target Audience - UKCC Level 1 and 2 coaches. Those who are responsible for organising children's sport and those who lead or deliver children's sport programmes eg. coahes, leaders, instructors, development officials,volunteers, parents, leisure centres, schools etc.   NOTE - You need to be 18 or over unless the workshop is delivered to a group of 16-18 year olds / or accompanied by an adult.  Please seek advice when booking.

( REFLECT & PRACTICE )  Please note attendance on SPC1 prior to this workshop is compulsary.

Aimed at coaches and those working with children and young people in sport. The workshop acknowledges and values the experience coaches have gained since the last workshop and builds on the knowledge and insight gained from Safeguarding and Protecting Children.

This course is designed to be attended by Sports coaches.  It shares similar introductory material to the "A Club for All" workshop and it is important that the same person doesn't attend both courses.

 First Aid for All Sports (includes Cricket) - The Certficate of Attendance is valid for 3 years   

A generic workshop for individuals, i.e. includes Sports Coaches and anybody in the community with specific areas on Cricket injuries in the last 30 minutes.

You must advise us your sport, either on the telephone booking or application form.

This will be noted on the register and will help the tutor to ensure Cricketers receive the agreed ECB First Aid Ceritficate. 

All other Sports will recieve the Life Support for the Community Certificate.

Workshop Title   FIRST AID FOR ALL - INCLUDES ALL SPORTS

The course will provide you with knowledge of how to deal with potential life threatening injuries and teach you how to deal with a variety of situations which may occur on the cricket pitch.

Please note the last 30 minutes will concern First Aid techniques related to Cricket.  Therefore, you may leave at this point if your sport is not Cricket.  When you book on this session, you must state your Sport on the application form to ensure you receive the approprate certificate.

Workshop Title  POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT IN SPORT

This sports coach UK workshop will help coaches to understand why challenging behaviour occurs in sport.  It will support coaches by identifying a range of practical ideas to deal with behaviour in sport and a coaching environment in a postive light. It will help coaches to recognise what creates a positive coaching evironment and the actions they need to take, that will encourage acceptable behaviour.

 

Target audience: UKCC Level 2 coaches working with young people either within a school or a club environment.
