The Delivery System For Sport In England

The new delivery system for sport in England is also known as the 'single system'. This has been devised from extensive cross sector consultation over the last six years to simplify and reform the current complex delivery structures in sport.

 

This page will provide a brief overview of this delivery system.

The Delivery System For Sport In England  

 

The two main aims of the delivery system are: -

1. To increase the number of people taking part in sport and active recreation especially from hard to reach groups: -
   • Women and girls
   • the over 45s
   • Black and ethnic minority communities
   • Disabled people
   • Those on lower incomes
     
2. To build talent pathways to support young people to achieve their full potential and sustain a higher level of participation.

This delivery system will also support the achievement of the outcomes set within The National Framework For Sport (2004) and the governments public service agreement targets (PSA).

This delivery system has been designed to be a 'demand led' supply chain. The above diagram depicts how the people taking part and the people delivering sport and active recreation can communicate their needs to the policy makes and investors.

 

For the first time in sport the delivery system clarifies the position and roles that different organisations and agencies play in delivering opportunities in sport and active recreation.

• What is their role within this delivery system? 

 

• Everyone should have the opportunity to participate and reach their full potential.
• Everyone is encouraged to communicate their needs for participation to the people behind the people, Community Sports Networks and County Sports Partnerships. 

 

• Continue to encourage participation and provide positive experiences to people taking part.
• Undertake professional development.
• Communicate training and personal needs to maintain and increase participation.   
• Communicate needs of the people taking part to the Community Sports Network and County Sports Partnership.

 

 

• Demonstrate strong leadership in sport and active recreation at a local level.
• Have formal links with Local Strategic Partnerships, Local Area Agreements and County Sports Partnership.
• Respond to community need and communicate this to County Sports Partnership.
• Identify priorities for action and share resources.

• Manage and measure performance within Staffordshire and Stoke On Trent.
• Effectively communicate local and sub regional need to regional partners.
• Provide effective marketing of sports and active recreation.
